Piano Lesson Information
Lessons take place at Joanne's home in her personal piano studio or online via Zoom, Facetime, or Skype.
Students learn on a Yamaha grand piano with access to a Yamaha digital piano as well. There is a small waiting room for parents and students while lessons are in progress.

Lessons vary between 30, 45, and 60 minutes depending on age and piano level.

Students have the option to prepare for traditional piano exams or play based on interest and enjoyment. That can include popular or classical music. Traditionally, there is an optional bi-annual recital for the students to show-case what they have accomplished.

Joanne created the "Piano Olympics" for students to have fun and work towards an attainable year end goal. Students are able to pick their own program and are rewarded with a trophy, a certificate, and a final written assessment.

In-Person Lessons
Joanne is thrilled to be able to offer in-person lessons again under health and safety precautions. Lessons will be offered in the studio on a Yamaha Grand Piano. All common high-touch areas and the piano itself will be cleaned between students, and masks are to be worn at all times.
Online/Distance Lessons
Joanne has recently invested in brand new technology with an excellent high speed internet connection which can accommodate several video chats simultaneously. This enables her to offer uninterrupted lessons from her home to yours.
Her online lesson platform is also supported by Ryan, the "in-house" technical expert and accomplished piano Major at UVic.
