About Us

Joanne Lambert, B.Mus (McGill), BCRMTA, AVCM, Owner & Instructor

Joanne has a Bachelor of Music from McGill University in Music Education and has many years of teaching experience. She started her musical studies at age 6 and then went on to study piano at McGill University at the age of 16, majoring in Performance and Music Education. She had a large piano practice in Huntingdon Quebec where she also was the founder and President of The Chateauguay Valley Music Association. The Chateauguay Valley Piano Festival was held each year and Joanne had many winners.

After moving to Saanichton and establishing a successful piano practice, Joanne furthered her music education by taking a two year Victoria Conservatory of Piano Education course. She studied with Winnifred Woods for 10 years. Besides, Joanne also taught Early Childhood Music Classes to children ranging from  6 months to 5 years at Commonwealth Place and Greenglade for many years. She and her sister Susan Middlemiss ran fun and exciting summer music camps at Commonwealth.

Focusing on diverse teaching methods and personalized lesson plans, her goal for her students is that they develop a lasting love for music. 

   Joanne is a member of the British Columbia Registered Music Association and was awarded her 25 year pin in 2018. 

  Outside of her piano studio, Joanne is also a church organist and choir director at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in North Saanich. She has held that position since 1993. Before that she was the organist and choir director at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Huntingdon, Quebec having been offered that position as soon as her graduation from McGill.

Saanichton Piano is proud to be an active member of the British Colombia Registered Music Teacher's Association, and one of the longest running home operated all-level/age comprehensive piano studios on the Saanich Peninsula.
